Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has said that he is extremely happy to sign for four more years with the Manchester club. The 28-year-old moved to Old Trafford as a backup replacement for the young and upcoming David de Gea.
However, he has been extremely influential in the first season and coupled with the erratic performances of the Spaniard has meant that he has been able to set a standard at Manchester United last season. Even though the manager Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to give David de Gea another opportunity this season, there is no doubting the quality of the 28-year-old Danish goalkeeper.
This has resulted in Anders Lindegaard being offered a new four-year contract by the club. The player put the pen to the paper a few weeks ago. He has no said that there can be no better decision than negotiating a new contract with Manchester United because he enjoys playing for the club. After having a successful full first season with the club, Anders Lindegaard has said that he is looking forward to the prospect of winning trophies in this season. The 28-year-old missed the second portion of the last season after suffering an ankle ligament injury in January.
“I’m very pleased to have signed a new contract. I’m glad and proud that the manager has shown the confidence he has in me by giving me a new deal. There is nowhere in the world I would rather be than right here. The competition for places is tough, as it should be in a club like this. It only makes us better as individuals and, more importantly, stronger as a team,” said the goalkeeper. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he is yet to decide on the first choice goalkeeper for the club next season.
