FERGIE MUST DECIDE

Manchester United has to play a very important match against Manchester City on 9th of December at the Etihad Stadium and the main headache for Sir Alex Ferguson is to decide which goalkeeper would be included in the starting XI of United in that match.

Whether it would be David De Gea or it would be Anders Lindegaard. Neither of these two goalkeepers has performed brilliantly in the ongoing season so far and that’s why, United has conceded so many goals in this season.

33 goals have been scored against Manchester United in the ongoing season so far. It’s true that some of the key defenders of Manchester United have been struggling with injuries and United has been playing with a relatively weaker defense. But, that is not the only reason for United conceding so many goals. The disappointing performance of the goalkeepers is the other reason for this.

Anders Lindegaard has played 8 matches and has conceded 11 goals, while, David De Gea has played 7 matches and has conceded 10 goals. These numbers clearly tell that these two goalkeepers have not been at their best so far.

Ferguson had been giving playing opportunities to Lindegaard since the last few weeks, but, after his poor performance in the match against Reading, Ferguson decided to leave him out. In United’s last match against CFR Cluj, David De Gea started the match and he made some good saves, but, he didn’t manage to prevent the defeat of United. United lost that match by 0-1.
The way David De Gea played in the last match; he might be given another go in the match against City. But, he needs to be careful. A poor performance in that match would make him a villain in the eyes of the fans.
