Anton Ferdinand has played down the reports of him joining the Thai club Police United.
Anton’s services had been secured by the Turkish Super Lig side, Antalyaspor, last summer, but, the defender didn’t play that many matches there. He just featured thrice in the season and his team ended up getting relegated to the second division.
Thereafter, the speculations started about Anton’s possible exit from Turkey and recently, the news came through that he agreed terms with Police United which plays in the top tier of Thai Football.
But, on a social networking site, Anton cleared the air by writing that he is yet to finalize deal with any club and that he is just exploring the options at the moment.
In the words of Anton, “Just to make things clear, the news of me signing for a new club is just a rumour. There are some options in front of me and I will have to have a look at them before making a call.”
“My passport is ready. I might not need it eventually though. Let’s see.”
It’s easy for people to draw speculations again from that second statement of Ferdinand. Through that statement, he has tried to hint that he might not have to travel outside England. Now what does that suggest?
One can easily assume that he is in talks with some English club and is planning to stay in England only.
Anton’s ender brother Rio will also be joining a new team this summer. His long association with Manchester United ended at the end of the last season.
Rio stayed at Manchester United for as many as 12 years, but, considering his age and form, the Red Devils released him when the last season got over.
