Barcelona star Andres Iniesta says that he is confident of being fit for the Champions League final in Berlin.
The midfielder is understood to be a doubt for the match against Juventus. A victory for Barcelona will see them move level with Liverpool as the five-time European champions. They have had four victories up until now but a majority of them have come since 2006. While Frank Rijkaard’s team started the run with a win in 2006, Pep Guardiola continued this form with two more trophies under his regime. Iniesta has been a lucky footballer to have been part of three title winning teams already.
A win on Saturday will be the fourth Champions League title for the 31-year-old. Apart from having been successful in all forms of club football, Iniesta has also lifted the European Championship and the World Cup with Spain. Regarded as one of the finest footballers of his generation, the star has been a man for the big occasion. He has played a crucial role in World Cup finals and Champions League finals over the years. Hence, he would be a major fitness for Barcelona should he be unavailable for Luis Enrique’s men. Barcelona have already lifted two major titles and they are gunning for a treble.
“I had some discomfort and nothing else. Not playing on Saturday has not passed through my head at all. I hope to be ready to play and help team to win the Champions League, which we all want, to end a very special season,” said Iniesta. “Any minutes I play will be extraordinary, and even more in a Champions League final. This is a dream end of my career as a Barcelona player, I could not even have dreamed this,” said Xavi, who will be making his final appearance as a Barcelona player.
