Despite Manchester United getting beaten at the hands of Arsenal to be removed from the FA Cup contention, Louis Van Gaal is not in danger of being fired from his job.
The Dutchman enjoys the backing of the decision makers of the club and would probably be given a full wallet again to do the business in the summer.
Van Gaal was one of the biggest money spenders in the transfer market last year too.
And, it was assumed that with the new signings that he had made, he would be able to make the Red Devils win a title or two in the 2014-15 Season, but, that is unlikely to happen now with the fact that they have been knocked out of the Cup.
However, there are still things to achieve for United this season. They would definitely not like to miss out on Europe again. They have kept themselves there and thereabouts in the top half of the Premier League so far, but, in the next one month or so, they are scheduled to lock horns with the first and the second placed teams.
If they lose those games, the possibility of finishing in top 4 and getting to Europe might fade again. So, there are challenges for Van Gaal going ahead.
And as far as the backing of the top brass is concerned, David Moyes also had that backing for a very long time the previous season, but, as soon as it got sure that the team was not going to qualify for the Champions League, the sacking was handed to the Scot.
So, until and unless Van Gaal assures United’s qualification to Europe, he should not be absolutely sure about his future at Old Trafford.
However, there is a slight difference in the case of Moyes and Van Gaal. The former did not have any support in the Manchester United squad because of his weird training methods, while, the latter commands huge amount of respect amongst the players.
