The future of Anders Lindegaard at Old Trafford is not appearing to be very bright as the Danish goalkeeper managed to make a number of appearances during the time when Sir. Alex Ferguson was the coach of Manchester United but Lindegaard has not played a single minute in a competitive match under the tutelage of Louis van Gaal as the Dutch manager prefers using David de Gea.
The form of David de Gea has been nothing but superb as the Spanish goalkeeper continues making sublime performances for Manchester United and it’s no wonder why Louis van Gaal is consistently using him. David de Gea is already being hailed to be the next IkerCasillas of Spain even though he’s only 24 years old.
David de Gea’s consistent string of amazing performances is great for Spain and Manchester United but Anders Lindegaard will have to make a move away from the Premier League club if he wants to have any chance of getting any playing time.
Even though Anders Lindegaard has not played a lot of matches in this season, the Danish goalkeeper has still managed to attract the interest of Benfica as the Portuguese club is keen to sign the 30 year shot-stopper.
A move to Benfica is the best option for Anders Lindegaard to get playing time. Besides the fact that David de Gea is the undisputed goalkeeper of Manchester United, there also are rumors that are linking Victor Valdes with a permanent move to the Premier League and if this is true then it will be even more difficult for Anders Lindegaard to have any chance of stepping up from his place on the sidelines at Old Trafford and get into the pitch on a consistent basis.
The number one goalkeeper of Benfica is the Brazilian player Julio Cesar who is 35 years old who is approaching the last few years of his career and getting playing time in the Portuguese club would be a much easier thing to accomplish in comparison to Manchester United that has David de Gea in between the sticks.
