The craziest and most dramatic transfer window in the entire history of football has finally come to an end and it’s now time for players to work hard and reach the level they are expected of at their new clubs. While almost all of the transfers that took place saw players complete moves to new clubs, a fraction of the summer transfer businesses saw players return to their former clubs, with the likes of Romelu Lukaku returning to Chelsea and Antoine Griezmann returning to Atletico Madrid. However, the biggest and most talked-about reunion is the one that saw Cristiano Ronaldo complete a sensational move to English Premier League giants Manchester United from Juventus.
The Ronaldo transfer to Manchester United alongside the transfer of Lionel Messi to French Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain is the biggest move this summer and of course, it has continued to attract opinions and comments from football fans and players all over the world. It initially started as a rumor that Ronaldo wanted to leave Juventus but after it became clear, his intention to return to the English Premier League was confirmed and even though Manchester City were the first club mentioned as his destination, he sealed a return to Old Trafford instead.
He is the fourth signing the Red Devils made this summer after the acquisition of goalkeeper Tom Heaton from Aston Villa (also a reunion), defender Raphael Varane from Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid, and winger Jadon Sancho from German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund all in this summer.
Former United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has hailed the Red Devils transfer business and says that they have done really well this summer and are expected to be challenging for the big titles this season both domestically and in Europe as well.
