Manchester United fans would definitely remember Anders Lindegaard for his time at the club. Anders Lindegaard spent five seasons with the Red Devils between 2010 and 2015. The Helsingborg shot stopper was restricted to just 19 league games over the course of those five seasons due to the form of undisputed first choice David De Gea.
The player spent just half of that season at Manchester United following his move to the club at the end of 2010. The Danish shot stopper signed for the Red Devils from Aalesund in Norway for a fee of around £3.5m.His Manchester United debut came in the FA Cup clash with Southampton at the start of 2011. Anders Lindegaard was in goal as Manchester United beat hosts Southampton 2-1 to progress further in the competition.
Three weeks on from his Manchester United debut, Lindegaard made his home debut for the club and it was also in the FA Cup. He was in the starting XI for the 1-0 win over National Conference team Crawley Town. His league debut for Manchester United was at the end of the same year and a different season (2011/12 campaign). Lindegaard kept a clean sheet as his team beat Norwich City 2-0 at home.
Manchester United signed De Gea in the summer of 2011 as a potential replacement for Van Der Sar. De Gea struggled in the first few months of his Manchester United career and that handed Lindegaard some playing time in the league. Once De Gea got his acts together, his rival struggled to dislodge him as the first-choice goalkeeper till his time at Manchester United came to an end in 2015. The 36-year-old joined West Brom on a free transfer at the end of his Manchester United career.
