Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard is all set to be back from his injury layoff to the first-team action soon.
Sir Alex Ferguson has been without his second choice goalkeeper for more than a month ago. However, the Manchester United manager expects Lindegaard to make his appearance in the first team within three weeks. This would come as a major boost to Manchester United in the race for the title.
United recently took the advantage from Manchester City after securing a one-point advantage over their arch rivals. The return of Lindegaard will certainly help them tide over the injury crisis.
Lindegaard was initially signed at Manchester United as the reserve goalkeeper, but the poor form of summer signings David de Gea earlier in the season enabled Lindegaard to stake his claim in the first-team. He was performing remarkably well in the first team, which soon led many to believe that the Denmark international will become the first team player at Old Trafford contrary to the predictions that De Gea might be the next Peter Schmeichel. Ferguson also said that midfielders Tom Cleverley and Anderson are also likely to be available for United in the next few matches.
The Premier league remains the only title that United can win this season. Hence, they will be focusing their entire attention towards preventing Manchester City from overtaking them once again.
“Anders is doing all the running now. It will be another two or three weeks before he gets into the football side but he is progressing very well,” said Ferguson. Ferguson, though, refused to comment on the speculation that Pogba will stay at United after all. The player has been linked with a move to Juventus in the summer, with many reports suggesting that he has already signed an agreement.
