Lindegaard keeps clean sheet in United win
Anders Lindegaard was in good form has he kept a clean sheet during a rare start for Manchester United.
The champions dominated the match for the most part and ran out 5-0 winners against Fulham, but the home side were not totally toothless and Lindegaard had to be on his toes to ensure they did not find a way back into the match.
Danny Welbeck opened the scoring after just five minutes when he finished from close range before Nani doubled the lead with a header.
Anyone following the in-play Premier League betting odds will have know that the game seemed to be over.
Ryan Giggs put the side 3-0 up with a deflected shot just before half time and it looked like Fulham were dead and buried, but as United manager Sir Alex Ferguson explained this was not the case.
The performance in the first half was as good as we have played all season in fairness. You think the third goal would kill Fulham but they came out very aggressive in the second half,” he said.
"They changed the pattern of the game but on the counter we always looked a threat."
Lindegaard had to deal with a total of eight shots on target during the course of 90 minutes and looked more than comfortable doing so, with his most notable save coming after a Clint Dempsey header.
With Fulham unable to find away through, the stage was set for United to secure a rout, which they did when Wayne Rooney and then Dimitar Berbatov found the net in the dying minutes of the game.
