AMOS HAPPY TO BIDE HIS TIME
Manchester United reserve goalkeeper Ben Amos has said that he is currently up against the likes of Anders Lindegaard and David de Gea when it comes to securing a first-team spot in the Manchester United team.
Anders Lindegaard was initially signed as the reserve goalkeeper last season, but the poor performances of Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea has meant that Anders Lindegaard has found himself in the first team action more often than not.
Rather disappointing manager Sir Alex Ferguson over a selection, Anders Lindegaard has been a very good goalkeeper this season. As a result, reserve goalkeeper Ben Amos has said that it is currently extremely difficult for him to break into the first-team due to the presence of these two keepers.
Anders Lindegaard has been extremely good for Manchester United in the last few weeks that many are starting to consider him as the first choice goalkeeper over David de Gea. Even though Ben Amos has been initially signed as the reserve goalkeeper, he is expected to take over the reins from Anders Lindegaard in the future.
Still, the keeper reckons that it is extremely difficult for him to get a game in the first-team due to the presence of Anders Lindegaard and David de Gea. The competition for Ben Amos has been slightly reduced following the injury to Anders Lindegaard, who will be out for up to 6 weeks.
"Yeah, it's a really friendly rivalry that we've got between me, Anders and David. We're all good friends and obviously when we begin training we'll have a laugh and joke but, when it comes to the actual work, we're competing with each other. We all encourage and drive each other on to get the best out of each other while still going for the same shirt," the England Under-21 international said in a recent interview.
